053 - The Parade of the Nazirites
Letter from the Editor:
If you’ve been following The Briefing, you know that we pay close attention to dreams. In the book of Job it says, “God may speak in one way, or in another... in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men…” Dreams are often symbolic, containing layers of meaning that must be searched out and understood in accordance with scripture. But sometimes, God speaks plainly. The following briefing relays a very recent prophetic dream with a clear and profound message. It’s one of the most exciting words that I’ve had the opportunity to share with you. I hope you will be encouraged and empowered to join us in praying it through to fulfillment - until faith becomes sight!

The Parade of the Nazirites
Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. 1 Corinthians 2:9
When God first spoke to us about the nazirites, it was the year 2000 and Lou Engle was preparing for TheCall DC. His son Jesse was thirteen at the time and had heard his father speak about the nazirite vow in Numbers 6. Jesse was struck by the stories of men and women of radical devotion throughout history who were used of God to have a radical impact upon their generation.
Jesse came to his father at that time and said, “Dad, I don’t want to play baseball this year. I want to be a nazirite up until TheCall. I want to grow my hair, fast 40 days on juice, and then not eat meats and sweets. All I want to do is run with you, Dad, and pray for revival in America!”
Lou was unsure how to respond to the request of his young son, but he didn’t have to wait long for an answer. That night, at 4:00 am, he heard God’s audible voice explode in his bedroom, waking him from sleep: “America is receiving her apostles, prophets and evangelists, but she has not yet seen her nazirites!”
Needless to say, Lou gave Jesse permission to fast and pray with him for those eight months leading up to TheCall. On the day of the event, Jesse stood before 400,000 and cried out passionately to God for the nazirites to arise in America. (See the original footage below.)
Many times since then, we have recalled God’s words and Jesse’s prayer and have wondered at their fulfillment. We’ve had the privilege of knowing many individuals, both young and old, who have lived counter-cultural lifestyles of radical consecration. Yet, the question remained, "Has America seen all that God has prepared for her?"
Recently, while in Kona, Hawaii, on our way back from Israel, the voice of the Lord broke in once again. That night, on American soil, I dreamed of a sudden burst of waters that filled the streets like a mighty river. As I watched, I heard it said: “We are about to see The Parade of the Nazirites!” I awoke with a start, amazed at what I had just seen and heard.
After writing it down, I went back to sleep and dreamed the same scene again! The sudden breaking of waters. The mighty rushing flood. The river in the streets. This time I heard it said, “We are about to see the outpouring of the Holy Spirit!”
n my dream it was as if these realities - the parade and the outpouring - were intricately connected, or would somehow be experienced simultaneously. It also seemed from the timing and location of the dream (right after Israel and not far from YWAM’s University of the Nations), that this will be seen not only in America, but in Israel and the nations as well.
We are about to see The Parade of the Nazirites!
Admittedly, we are not fully sure all that this means for us, but we can take some cues from history. It’s interesting that John the Baptist, a nazirite from birth, was described in Luke 1:80 as having grown strong in the wilderness “until the day of his public appearance to Israel.” A parade, of course, is a public procession of sorts. Also, parades can be military ceremonies involving the formation and marching of troops.
On the dark side of history, the Nazi’s paraded through the streets of Germany just before Hitler sent them to invade the surrounding nations. To the contrary, could it be that God has reserved for Himself companies of nazirites, prepared in the caves of obscurity, who are about to be thrust onto the public scene with power and authority to deliver the masses?
n the scriptures, we find that God raised up nazirites for very strategic purposes. In Samson's day, he was used of God to save the nation from her enemies. Through Samuel, the prophet/priest, God restored the nation to its moral foundations. Then there was John the Baptist, the nazirite who became a voice that turned the hearts of the fathers to the children and the rebellious back to the wisdom of the righteous.
Would you pray with us for the imminent revealing of such nazirites once again in America and beyond?
- Pray Joel 2:28, that God would pour out His Spirit on all flesh, that our sons and daughters would prophesy, old men would dream dreams, and young men would see visions.
- Pray Acts 4, that the places where God’s people have been praying would be shaken and we’d speak God’s word with all boldness.
- Pray 2 Samuel 5:20, that as waters break out, the Lord would break out against His enemies like He did for David at Baal Perazim. Pray for nazirites to pour into our halls of government, fields of commerce, and institutions of learning.
- Pray for prepared vessels of radical devotion to be thrust forth to reveal God’s righteousness and justice to a lost generation.
- Pray for the fulfillment of all that’s been in God’s heart, that He would have for himself a people who are fully His, leading the parade of history.
