044 - The Storm of the Lord

Then the Lord will appear over them, and his arrow will go forth like lightning;
the Lord God will sound the trumpet and will march forth in the whirlwinds of the south. Zech 9:14
Several years ago, I had a dream in which the Lord was riding in a Zechariah 9 whirlwind that was coming up from the south. It’s name was “Hurry Cain!” For years I pondered the meaning of this dream. Then, while in Florida earlier this month (just a few days after Paul Cain’s death), I dreamed of this whirlwind once again. This time it was referred to as a "40-day storm.”
Florida is the land of hurricanes, experiencing more than twice as many direct hits than any other state in the US. Florida is also the place where Paul Cain first had his Stadium Vision. In his vision, Paul saw a great revival covering the earth and stadiums were being filled for days on end with worship, the preaching of the gospel, and astounding healings and miracles. We believe God desires to hasten the fulfillment of this glorious vision and has given us a way to partner with Him in bringing it forth.
In 1946, a man named Franklin Hall published a brief book entitled Atomic Power with God through Prayer and Fasting. Hall recognized fasting’s potential to release the atomic power of God. The book quickly inspired a wave of extended fasting and prayer that led to the healing revivals of the 1940’s and ‘50’s, as well as the establishing of the State of Israel in 1948.
Lou Engle had been reading Hall’s book in 1999 when a YWAM leader approached him for help in mobilizing the whole world to a 40-day fast for a global harvest in the new millennium. Lou had responded to Bill Bright’s call to fast just a few years prior, and was convinced of the power of fasting and prayer to break open the harvest. However, in 1999, Lou did not yet have a national platform, and it seemed ludicrous to him that he could mobilize the world to a fast.
This quandary led Lou to pray, “God, if you really want me to call this fast, then give someone a dream of me flying a plane and dropping an atomic bomb.” That night, someone called Lou and said, “I had a dream you were flying a plane and dropping an atomic bomb.” Lou thought, “Wow, that’s amazing, but it still won’t mobilize the globe.” He needed another confirmation.
It just so happened that Paul Cain was coming to minister at Lou’s church the following week. So, Lou prayed again saying, “God, I know Paul is a prophet. If you really want me to call the world to a 40-day fast for the harvest, then have him call me out and give me Ecclesiastes 11:1 ‘cast your bread upon the waters.’” The following week, Paul Cain came to Lou’s church, called him out by his middle name and birthdate, and said, “I see that you are skinny because you’ve been fasting and the Lord says ‘Ecclesiastes 11:1 cast your bread upon the waters.'”
At that time, Lou called a 40-day fast and wrote a small book titled, “Fast Forward.” Then, in 2016, he expounded on the revelation from his initial book and co-wrote The Jesus Fast with author Dean Briggs. Lou focused on the example of Jesus who was led into the wilderness for 40 days of fasting and then came out in the power of the Spirit.
This year, coming out of The Send, thousands worldwide are preparing to join in a 40-day “Jesus Fast” for a global harvest.
